Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026 · MIRI IO INC.
This Privacy Policy explains how MIRI IO INC. (“DealNear”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the DealNear website, merchant tools and API (together, the “Service”). We follow Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws, including Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
1. Who is responsible
MIRI IO INC. is responsible for personal information under its control. Our person in charge of the protection of personal information can be reached at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
When you create an account
- Your display name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash; we cannot read them.
- The language you used when signing up, so we can write to you in that language.
- If you agree to receive marketing emails: the date and time you agreed and the IP address you agreed from, which Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires us to keep as proof of consent.
When you use DealNear
- The coupons you claim, their codes and status (unused, redeemed or cancelled), and when they were redeemed.
- Deals you save as favourites, and the city and language you choose on the site.
If you run a business on DealNear
- Your business profile: business name, description, address, postal code, phone number, website, logo and city.
- The deals you publish, including text, prices, dates and images.
- If you use the API: the names, permissions and last-use time and IP address of your API keys (the keys themselves are stored only as a hash), and any webhook addresses you set up, with a log of webhook deliveries.
When you contact us
Emails you send to our addresses (for example [email protected]), including attachments, and our replies.
Automatically
- Technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device, the pages you visit and how you arrived (including the tags on links shared on social media), collected through server logs and Google Analytics.
- Cookies, described in section 8.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the Service: create your account, issue coupons, let businesses redeem them, and show your coupons and favourites.
- To review businesses and deals before they are published, and to prevent fraud and abuse (for example, enforcing per-person coupon limits).
- To send emails you need, such as account and coupon messages.
- To send news and offers by email, only if you opted in. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also change this in “Email preferences”.
- To understand how the Service is used and improve it.
- To keep the Service secure, and to comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for purposes other than those above without asking you first.
4. What businesses see
When you claim a coupon, the business that offers the deal can see your display name, the coupon code and its status, in the merchant center and through its API and webhooks. We do not share your email address with businesses. Businesses are independent of DealNear and handle any information you give them directly under their own privacy practices.
5. Service providers and other disclosures
We use trusted providers who process information on our behalf and only as needed to provide their service:
- Amazon Web Services (Amazon SES) to send email;
- Google (Google Analytics) to measure use of the website;
- our hosting and email providers, to run the website and receive mail.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, in which case the information remains protected by this policy.
6. Where your information is stored
Some of our providers, including Amazon Web Services and Google, store or process information outside Canada, in particular in the United States. While there, it may be accessible to courts and authorities of that country under its laws. Before transferring information outside Québec we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, as Law 25 requires.
7. How long we keep it
- Account information, coupons and favourites: as long as your account exists. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymize it, except what we must keep by law.
- Proof of marketing consent and of unsubscribing: for as long as we send you messages and for three years afterwards, as CASL permits.
- Webhook delivery logs: 30 days.
- Emails exchanged with us: as long as needed to handle your request and our records.
8. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies that are needed for the site to work — to keep you signed in, protect forms against forgery, and remember your language and city. We also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to measure visits. Google Analytics is not used on pages that contain private information, such as the admin area, coupon pages or email-preference links. You can block cookies in your browser settings (some features may then stop working) and opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
9. How we protect it
We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and API keys, encrypted storage of mailbox passwords, and access limited to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; if a privacy incident creates a risk of serious harm, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. Your rights and choices
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have your account deleted. You can withdraw your consent to marketing emails at any time. If you live in Québec, you may also ask for your information in a structured, commonly used technological format, and ask us to stop disseminating your information where the law allows. To make a request, email [email protected]; we will reply within 30 days and may need to verify your identity first.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Québec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
11. Children
The Service is not intended for children. People under 16 may not create an account. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed; for significant changes we will notify you by email or on the site before they take effect.
